A View from the Castle by Faith Anderson

Dark mists creep in

Seducing the sky

Escorting us to the funeral

We follow in awe

As tall towers of steel stand

Above us

The waters below rise to our eye-line and we cry into them

Animals die with each breath we take in

And more machine is born with each breath we let out

All animals and all that crawl praise us even if we cheat

We have built our own kingdom
